  • A portrait of the Director of Resilient Community Arts,

    Maddie McDougall

    Maddie (she/her) is an artist, educator, and community advocate currently living and working in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Maddie has been the Director od Resilient Community Arts since it’s founding in 2021. Maddie has lived in the Valley for 9 years and loves connecting with community members. Her personal artwork stems from a foundation in painting and printmaking and now spans across mediums, often focusing on social and political themes. She has also taught Visual Art in Springfield Public Schools, with Make-It Springfield and the SC Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement.

    In the summer of 2021, Maddie founded Resilient Community Arts, where she serves as the director of our board and also teaches a number of workshops and classes.

  • Sharon Leshner (Sharona Color)

    Sharon (she/her) is a local artist, educator, community activator, and the founder of the Color Collaborative, a community arts initiative based in Easthampton, MA. Sharon works in collaboration with Resilient Community Arts as a public programming facilitator.

    Sharon has been creating community engaged murals for over 10 years for school districts, municipalities, businesses, and nonprofits. Her background in exhibition design and community organizing has led her to create artwork that is communicable to people across ages and backgrounds. She started her career at Center for Architecture and Design as the organizer of the DesignPhiladelphia Festival, and later traveled throughout Asia painting murals. Sharon's recent solo exhibition took place at Paper City Clothing Co. + Artesana Gallery in Holyoke in July 2022.

  • Mi Belitsky

    Mi Belitsky (they/them) is a nonbinary queer Jewish multidisciplinary artist based in Western Mass. They received their B.A. in Psychology from UMass Amherst and are currently finishing up their master’s degree in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at Springfield College.

    Mi joined RCA in the spring of 2022 to help with collaboration and development of art camp programs for kids and teens. Since then, Mi has been involved in RCA outreach and has tabled at events such as Springfield Pride, Easthampton Cultural Chaos, and Holyoke Print Shop.

    Currently, Mi facilitates RCA’s Queer Trans Art Group (QTAG) and is passionate about creating LGBTQ+ affirming art spaces around the valley.

  • Sarah Carragher

    Sarah Carragher is an artist working in a variety of media, with her main specialties being paper cutting and collage.

    RCA has filled her cup by providing a dynamite creative community and the space to be messy. It brings her joy to be able to pay that forward by working as a facilitator.
